About Edith Stein University for Teacher Education

Edith Stein University for Teacher Education is located in the east of The Netherlands, near the German border. We specialize in teacher education and have around a thousand students roaming our hallways any given year. A total of 110 employees help make sure that Edith Stein provides them with the best possible tools for becoming the very best teacher they can be.

At our university, we care deeply about education. Our goal is to educate teachers in such a way that they are able to get the best result with every pupil. Education is a constantly changing field which needs to be monitored carefully. That’s why we spend a lot of time keeping up with its latest developments. We do this mainly through our lecturers. At Edith Stein we have seven in total, researching themes such as innovative education, learning and behavioral problems, and leadership in teaching. Apart from that we collaborate with other universities in our region in the Twente School of Education (Twente University, Saxion), to develop even better educational programs.

Our students are the number one priority at Edith Stein (named after a German philosopher, also known as Saint Edith Stein). After all, they hold the key for the education of a future generation. That’s why we want our students to work hard and pass their knowledge on. We teach them to not only help children with courses like math, geometry and language, but also to instill a sense of self into them, to teach them to respect others and themselves. Teaching methods are therefore of the utmost importance at Edith Stein University.

Edith Stein University for Teacher Education in its current form has been around since 1995. However, the institution has a long history in the field of education in its region and has been around for decades, albeit under different names. Not unlike education itself, Edith Stein keeps developing further. We do this by keeping our curriculum fresh and creating new possibilities such as innovative master programs for those who have been working in the educational field for some time. These programs focus on Innovative Teaching, Leadership in Schools and Special Educational Needs.
